URI Watershed Watch Program Director Linda Green will talk about the award-winning thirty year program and discuss Warren’s water quality results from their inaugural year (2016) and early results from 2017. In 2017 there were ~350 volunteers monitoring more than 250 sites in RI & CT, 1/3 lakes and ponds, 1/3 rivers and streams, 1/3 brackish & salt water. The monitoring results are used by local organizations, RI DEM & DOH and US EPA.
At the conclusion of this presentation, Dr. Dale Leavitt of Roger Williams University will also make brief remarks on the Oyster Upweller Project currently underway at the Warren Town Wharf.
