Project: This month, we’re meeting on a Wednesday instead of a Tuesday for a special project with Save the Bay: The Little Mussachuck Creek Saltmarsh Restoration Project. We’ll be cutting phragmites to delineate the stream channel and tributaries and using steel garden rakes to clear the channels. This is part of a year-long effort to restore the flow of the creek.
We have scheduled two shifts — from 10 am to noon and from 1-3 pm. We are limiting participation in this project to 8 people per session.
THE MORNING SHIFT HAS BEEN FILLED. PLEASE REGISTER FOR AFTERNOON SHIFT.
REGISTER FOR THE 1 – 3 PM SHIFT
If both are full and you’d like to help, email Cindy Elder. We can use your help removing invasive plants in the adjacent woodlands at PIC-WIL Nature Preserve.
What to Wear: You will need knee-high waterproof boots for this project. Dress for the weather. Long pants with long socks recommended for tick prevention.
What to Bring: Bring work gloves, shears, and a metal rake if you have them. Safety glasses are recommended. We will have extra gloves, shears, rakes, safety glasses and tick spray.
Location/Parking: The parking area for PIC-WIL Nature Preserve is located on Washington Road in Barrington, directly across from Tallwood Drive. We will open the gate so you can pull your vehicle into the preserve.
If you have any last-minute questions, please text/call me at 508-733-2443 or email Victor Lerish. Thanks for participating!
