Many of our Art in Nature programs have focused on recording our observations of the natural world in journals. Now, you can create your own handmade journal to capture these moments of inspiration.
Join local artist Anna Amiradaki for a bookmaking workshop on Thursday, Oct. 8, from 6 to 7:30 pm in the Collis Gallery at the Barrington Public Library.
The event is free but registration is limited. The Barrington Land Conservation Trust is covering the cost of supplies, Anna is volunteering her time and expertise, and the Barrington Public Library is providing the space. A wonderful collaboration!
Handcrafted Accordion Journals: A 90-Minute Bookmaking Workshop
Unfold your creative practice with the elegant art of accordion bookbinding. In this hands-on 90-minute session, you will craft a custom, hardbound accordion journal using rich watercolor paper—perfect for sketching, visual journaling, watercolor studies, or displaying photos.
What You Will Learn & Do:
- Fold and prepare continuous watercolor paper signatures for clean accordion expansion.
- Wrap durable board to create custom hardcovers for your journal.
- Attach your fold-out pages seamlessly into a finished, lay-flat hardcover book.
- Learn simple hacks to continue making these books using accessible, low-cost materials.
