On Saturday, March 9, several BLCT board members attended and presented at the 2019 Land & Water Conservation Summit at URI. Developed to meet the needs of land trusts, watershed organizations and municipal conservation commissions, the Summit offers dozens of hands-on workshops designed to enhance technical and organizational effectiveness. This was the 16th Summit, which has become an annual highlight for BLCT board members. In addition to attending workshops and learning about great topics like monitoring shorelines, mapping tools, sustaining grasslands, and encouraging the use of trails, BLCT board member Amy O’Donnell and Janine Silversmith, author of Hiking With Families in Rhode Island, hosted a workshop on collaborating with libraries. This program included a presentation about the backpacks program BLCT sponsors at the Barrington Public Library (check it out here). You can see pictures of Amy’s workshop below.

The 2020 Land and Water Conservation Summit will be on March 7. You can find out more about it here.
