DESCRIPTION:THIS EVENT IS FOR MEMBERS OF THE STUDENT STEWARDSHIP TEAM ONLY. \nIf you are not a registered member and would like to join\, visit our Student Stewardship page for more information. \nOn Indigenous Peoples Day — Monday\, October 12 — from noon to 4 pm\, we’ll be working at Osamequin Nature Preserve as part of Barrington’s Day of Caring. You have the choice of working the full shift or a two-hour shift. \nThis is a public event that includes two projects: a cleanup and planting of pollinator seeds in the meadow. We will check in participants\, provide them with equipment\, and participate in the work. \nOsamequin Nature Preserve is located on the northbound side of Rte. 114\, approximately one mile north of the intersection of County Road and Massassoit Ave\, in Barrington\, RI\, shortly after you pass Walker Farm on your right. The preserve’s parking lot is marked with a sign. Be careful as you enter or exit the parking area\, as traffic moves fast along this highway. \nDress for the weather and wear long socks\, long pants\, Land Trust T-Shirt and Land Trust hat. SUMMARY:Barrington Day of Caring: Planting & Cleanup Project - Osamequin Nature Preserve
DESCRIPTION:You can participate in Barrington’s Day of Caring on Indigenous Peoples’ Day at Osamequin Nature Preserve on Monday\, October 12\, from 1 to 4 pm. We’ll be reseeding a field with pollinator plants and cleaning up litter around the preserve. All ages are welcome; children must be supervised by an accompanying adult. \nThis event is one of several community events taking place on Barrington’s Day of Caring.  This event is co-led by the Barrington Garden Club and the Barrington Land Conservation Trust\, which co-manage the preserve in partnership with the Town of Barrington. \nREGISTER FOR THE EVENT \nDATE/TIME: Monday\, October 12\, from 1 to 4 pm. Please arrive at 1 pm. You can leave whenever you are ready to go. \nPROJECT: We’ll be reseeding a field with pollinator plants and cleaning up litter around the preserve. We’re also accepting donations of non-perishable food for Tap-In. \nWHAT TO WEAR: Wear long pants\, sturdy shoes\, long socks (that can be pulled up over the hem of your pants)\, a long-sleeved shirt\, and a hat. You may wish to spray your clothing with tick and/or mosquito spray before you arrive. We will have tick and mosquito spray available on site. \nWHAT TO BRING: Bring a water bottle and a snack if you wish. We welcome you to bring a contribution of non-perishable food for Tap-In (see list below). We will provide tools for the planting and cleanup. If you have a bucket and trash grabber\, please bring it along. \nDIRECTIONS: Osamequin Nature Preserve is located on the northbound side of Rte. 114\, approximately one mile north of the intersection of County Road and Massassoit Ave\, in Barrington\, RI. There is a parking area off 114 and the preserve is marked with a sign.
